Press Release
YES! Reverberates in
Elgin-Middlesex-London
20 January, 2007
Building on the success of ridings like London-West and others around the Province, the YES campaign again made significant gains in the key battleground riding of Elgin-Middlesex-London yesterday. While there are 107 ridings throughout Ontario, those surrounding the convention location of London are considered crucial by both sides of the Leadership Review question.
When the ballot count was completed 18 YES, 2 NO and 1 Undecided delegate were selected to attend the upcoming February Leadership Review convention. Ex-Officio delegate and former Elgin-Middlesex-London candidate Bill Fehr declared for the YES campaign while the riding President supports the NO side.
"Elgin-Middlesex-London is a testament to the grassroots support we have on the ground throughout the Province" said DraftALeader.com organizer Nick Kouvalis. "The grassroots are motivated. With each successful meeting, the breadth and depth of our campaign continues to grow."
"Given the opportunity, more and more people are stepping forward in favour of a review" said Kouvalis. " I think this is a healthy sign that democracy is alive and well within the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario. I'd also like to thank Ernie Hardeman, MPP for Oxford, for attending the meeting. His presence helped ensure an orderly and fair process for all."
Upcoming meetings in London-Centre (Jan. 29th), London-Fanshawe (Jan 30th) and Perth-Wellington (Jan 31st) will afford grassroots members of the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario an opportunity to express their will on the question of a Leadership Review
